Hello everyone and welcome to the second part of this post! Last week I shared with you four action points that have completely changed my way of facing life and have allowed me to live a more positive and whole living. As I said on my first post, this last year has brought incredible lessons and changes, but I was able to take out the best in all of them and now I feel more confident and authentic than ever. That is why I am sharing with you four more actions that have helped me immensely and I hope they help you too.

1. Believe in your goals and keep them present

I am all about living life with purpose. How many times have you started a journey with an idea but after some time moved away from it or even forgot about it? or how many times have you done something because everyone around you convinced you that that was the best for you even though your heart was taking you in another direction? I've been through both and I think both of these usually happen because of two reasons: A lack of confidence and a lack of direction.

When I took the job in the US I did it because I had a purpose and a dream, but as time went by I started taking opportunities that, although they did bring a higher title and salary with them, they were slowly moving me away from my original goal. After years I ended up in a department that I didn't like and what's even worse, that was the department that I had most experience in, so every other professional opportunity presented to me was in similar roles. It wasn't until I reminded myself of my original goal that I started re-evaluating my decisions and I was able to re-align my journey to that original dream.

Keep your goals present as if they were your North Star, and although it's ok to get out of the road sometimes, try to realign your road to your goals every now and then so you don't end up too far.

On the other hand, always listen to the advice coming from the people that love you, most of the time it comes from good intentions, but always remember you have the last word because ultimately you'll live with the consequences of your decisions, not them. Trust your instincts and trust your goals. At the end of the day only you know what is best for you.

2. Be flexible

Although it is good to have an end goal, try to be flexible when you think about the ways to achieve this goal. Sometimes the road that you think is best isn't the only one and it is important to stop forcing things to be the exact way that you think they should be, because that's how you stop them from happening.

I wanted to go to another continent from the start (I'll be sharing where in the coming months!), but for some reason, I thought I needed to get there via New York. I thought that if I managed to get a big position in New York, I'd be able to do the transition to the next continent easier. So, ¿what did I do? I forced opportunities in New York over and over again and no opportunity ever showed up. It wasn't until I remembered that New York wasn't the end goal that I realized there were other ways to get to this new continent. Once I switched my mindset, plenty of opportunities started to come up.

That is why my best advice is to be flexible when you are building your roadmap. Things are destined to be better than you imagine, so your plans will never go exactly the way you want them to and that is GOOD.

3. Trust in your Value

This is such an important lesson. We can be our biggest enemy if we are not our number one fan. It is common to think that we don't deserve something because we don't look a certain way or we don't have the years of experience they are asking for or even worse, because someone told us we didn't deserve it and we believed it.

Change comes from empowerment, not shame. So in order for good opportunities to come, you need to empower yourself, to trust yourself, trust your value and accept that you deserve whatever goal you set to reach. Rather than looking for reasons why you can't do it, think about all the reasons why you can and should. Prioritize the positive attributes in you and project that to the world. In my last job, the people that were most confident in their value and themselves were the ones that moved up, and that is because the way you present yourself impacts enormously the way others perceive you. Use that tool to your advantage.

Likewise, if you ever find yourself in a place where the people around you are not valuing you - whether it's your boss, your boyfriend, your friends or anyone else- and you feel stuck, remember that when a flower doesn't bloom we don't blame the flower, we blame the environment that the flower is in. The same applies to you, if you don't think you are growing, moving forward or you are not being the best version of yourself, don't blame yourself, trust your value and learn to identify that you need to change the environment that you are in to one where you can truly bloom.

4. Surround Yourself with Positive People

ALWAYS surround yourself with curious, lively and positive people; the ones that create, the ones that make bold choices, the ones that push you to be better. You'll see how that positive attitude is contagious and how that same group of people will help you achieve your goals.

These are some of the mentality changes I made this past year and the changes that I continue to work on day by day. I find these four to be just as important as the ones I wrote on the first part of this post.

For me, it is very important to use this channel to talk to you about valuable topics that can really make a positive impact in your life and I do hope that these recommendations do so. I am truly passionate about personal growth and I hope to share more posts like this in the future!

Thank you for stopping by!

Love,

-Mar
