Hello everyone and happy start of your week! Tomorrow a new month begins and it happens to be the one that breaks 2021 into two. The sixth month of the year is here and I can't help to think about how much I've changed and how much has changed in so little.

2020 was a year of challenges, a year to reflect and a year of personal growth where I learnt some of the most valuable lessons of my life. But 2021 feels different. This is year I've continued to change, grow and learn, but moreover it has been the year where I've applied all the valuable lessons from 2020 and in doing so I've seen instant positive changes in my opportunities, health, surroundings, and more.

The lesson here is that nothing around me changed really, but I did. And with my own change I opened the doors to new opportunities, experiences and positive people that have completely overshadowed all the negativity.

I want to share with you some of the lessons that have meant so much to me and I hope that when you apply them, you see the instant positive change that I saw. Keep reading to learn the four things you need to do today for a positive change in your life.

1. Switch your mindset to an abundance mindset

It's a common thing to believe that there are limited opportunities for the lot of us. The world has made us believe that this is a competitive place where if someone reaches a goal, it means that there is less space for the rest of us to reach it too. In other words, we believe there is only one cake for all of us to share, and that if someone takes a piece it means that there is less cake for the rest of us.

That scarcity mentality goes hand in hand with feelings of resentment and a low self-confidence. For example, you can resent a colleague for being promoted before you, or you can feel afraid to open that shoe store you keep dreaming of because you feel like there are already plenty of shoe stores in the world and you won't be able to compete.

The reality is that, although you do need to be competitive to get that promotion, and you need a valuable competitive advantage to stand out in the saturated shoe market, you must see these as challenges but not impediments to reach your goals. It's part of your journey to overcome the challenge and it's not your colleague's fault or the shoe competitor's fault that your journey is different than theirs.

The world us abundant and there is space for all of us, and when you change your mentality to an abundance mentality you automatically start to see new possibilities. And, can I tell you a secret? Those possibilities were always there, you just couldn't see them because you were ruled by a scarcity mentality.

2. Celebrate other people's achievements

This action goes hand in hand with the last one. Celebrating others' achievements is extremely important to allow positive energy to flow in your life. A negative and resentful attitude blocks good opportunities from you because it means that you are not ready to receive them.

Once you understand that the achievements of others are not an impediment to your own achievements, you will realize how seeing other people win, grow and reach their goals is very inspiring. Furthermore, when you celebrate their achievements and send positive messages to them you cultivate a very special connection that will allow you to surround yourself with positive, happy and ambitious people.

3. Take the time to recognize and enjoy your own achievements

Likewise, make sure to stop and take the time to celebrate your own achievements -big or small- and always give yourself credit for everything you've accomplished so far.

I used to be one of those people that worked really hard to reach a goal but the moment I reached it, I was already thinking about the next one without even giving myself time to enjoy the reaching of that first milestone. And although I think ambition can be positive, when you take it to an extreme level like I did, it can have a very negative impact. There were times when it hadn't even been a week since I reached one goal and I already felt like my achievement felt short in comparison to my next goal.

This type of mentality had consequences such as making me feel like I wasn't doing enough, like I wasn't reaching my goals fast enough and it made me minimize my own achievements, which gravely affected my self-confidence.

Now, I continuously remind myself to take the time to celebrate my achievements and I do feel proud of what I've done so far. This small action has had an immense impact in my self-confidence, my strength and my determination.

4. Stop criticizing others

One of the most damaging things in life is to focus on the negative side of things and people, constantly criticizing their every move. It's crucial to understand that when you are judging others, subconsciously, you are judging yourself if one day you end up in the same situation.

For example, criticizing someone because they failed on a professional dream means that if you are ever in the same position (and most times Karma will make sure that you are), all the things that you said about that person will now apply to you. And truly, you'll end up looking like an idiot.

We are all in different journeys and going through different processes, we all win and fail at times and we all have the right to be whoever we want to be and do what we want as long as we don't hurt others. My advice is to be and let others be. Worry about yourself, your journey and keep your feet on the ground. You'll see how once you stop criticizing others you'll free yourself from a heavy negative energy.

These are the first four actions I wanted to share with you today. I know it's not easy and I still have to constantly remind myself to apply one or two of the points on this list, but little by little it becomes easy and once it does you start to see the positive changes in your life.

It is now extremely important to me to live a holistic life where I am well physically, mentally and spiritually, and these four little actions have had a huge impact in doing so. I still want to share more actions to take, so please stay tuned as I'll be posting part 2 of this post next week.

Have a lovely Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Love,

-Mar
